Knoxville Black Maternal Health Week
April 11-17, 2026
Knoxville’s Black Maternal Health highlights the expertise of local researchers, birth workers, holistic practitioners, business owners, advocates, activists, and professionals dedicated to maternal health and wellness in Knoxville and the Tri-Cities.
Now in its fourth year, the conference has grown into a week-long series of events held at various locations throughout the community. It continues to raise awareness and offer education through interactive sessions and artistic expressions, focusing on the critical issues surrounding maternal/paternal health and addressing the disparities faced by people of color and their families.
Support Our Mission
Knoxville Black Maternal Health Week invites community partners, organizations, and businesses to stand with us in advancing birth justice, healing, and family wellness in East Tennessee. Your support ensures that all events during the week remain free, accessible, and community-led, while also uplifting the voices of local birth workers, fathers, artists, and advocates.
Sign Our petition to fight Bill hb295
KBMHC is launching a defensive campaign around bill HB295.
For generations, doulas, especially Black, Indigenous, and community-rooted doulas, have carried forward ancestral knowledge, spiritual care, and practices that center the needs of birthing people and families. These practices predate the medical system and have always existed outside of it.
HB295 continues a harmful trend of state regulation that erases and undermines community-based care. Instead of supporting diverse doula practices, the bill could push doulas into narrow, medicalized frameworks
