What to Expect
As part of Knoxville’s Black Maternal Health Week, the Barbershop Talk event will center the voices and experiences of all men—fathers, partners, and mentors—who play a vital role in shaping family health and generational wellness.
This event is designed for men and boys only.
Participants will engage in open dialogue around topics such as:
- Building and maintaining healthy relationships with partners during pregnancy and postpartum;
- Understanding the father’s role in maternal health, birth support, and early child development;
- Navigating mental health, stress, and identity as a man and parent;
- Breaking generational cycles through communication, education, and community care.
The space will be grounded in honesty, brotherhood, and affirmation. Light refreshments and resource materials will be provided, along with information about local programs that support fathers in parenting, co-parenting, and family advocacy.
Goal: Create an affirming space for fathers and aspiring fathers to engage in honest dialogue about fatherhood, relationships, and family wellness.
Focus: Fatherhood, Mental Health, Intergenerational Healing
Partners: Local barbershops, fatherhood programs, and community mentors
Venue: House of Fades Barbershop (501 E. Inskip Dr., Knoxville, TN 37912)
About Our Venue
A Full-Service Barber Shop Uplifting Black Businesses and Community
At our barber shop, we take pride in providing top-quality haircuts and grooming services to our community. Our journey began in 2018 with a dream in Sweetwater, TN, and since then, we have continued to grow and expand our reach. People were coming from all around, including Knoxville, just to get a haircut in Sweetwater. It wasn’t long before we decided to take the leap and open up a shop in Knoxville.
While our journey has not been without its challenges, we persevered through the pandemic and are proud to be standing strong. Wes Adams, our owner, is particularly proud of the work we have done in uplifting black businesses and promoting diversity in our industry. We prioritize giving back to our community and making sure that we are doing our part to make a positive impact.
At our shop, we are family-oriented and treat everyone who walks through our doors like one of our own. We pride ourselves on being a full-service barber shop that offers a wide range of services at reasonable prices. Whether you are looking for a classic cut or a modern style, we’ve got you covered. So come on in, take a seat in one of our chairs, and let us help you look and feel your best.
